Homefirst, a non-profit that works with the homeless, recently honored
Allstate exclusive agent Nelson C. Espeland.
Espeland of Scotch Plains was bestowed the Homefirst Hero Award at the Homefirst Evening of Thanks Awards Dinner and 30
th anniversary celebration in Kenilworth.
Allstate New Jersey was also recognized as 2016 Corporate Champion for donating more than $100,000 to the cause, which aims to provide permanent solutions to the issue of homelessness in Central Jersey.
“I applaud our 2016 Homefirst Heroes and am deeply grateful for their financial donations and the time and talent they contribute to our mission,” Debbie-Ann Anderson, Homefirst executive director, said.
“I love seeing the joy (on) the faces of the children when they find they’re going to move into their own home. There is no greater reward than to be a part of something that enables families to go on from homelessness to hopefulness,” Espeland noted.
Espeland was a member of the Homefirst board of trustees from 1999 to 2015. He is a 15 year veteran of the insurance industry, and is a licensed New Jersey agent.
“We believe everyone deserves a good life,” added Allstate New Jersey president John Kane. “We applaud (Homefirst’s) efforts and success in delivering housing, homeless prevention assistance and support services to deserving families.”
