Direct download capabilities have been eluding insurance agents for many years, but a newly established partnership between Progressive and industry technology provider Vertafore is bringing time-saving solutions to hundreds of agents nationwide.

Independent insurance agents who use Vertafore AMS360 8.0 now have the ability to automate their daily download process for Progressive policies. The interface automatically downloads the policies, each night, streamlining the process and freeing up more time for the agent.

Vertafore Senior Vice president of Product Management Mark Craig says the process will save agents a substantial amount of time they would have been spending downloading individual policies and then re-entering them into their own agency management systems.

“When we look at it, the interface should easily save 30 minutes to an hour every day,” Craig told Insurance Business. “The feedback we’re getting from our soft launch is that the interface is allowing agents more time to focus on servicing their customers and selling more policies.”

Negotiating the agreement with Progressive took roughly 12 months, Craig said, but the resulting product should be available to Vertafore clients immediately.

The new interface is the latest in a series of advancements Vertafore has made to round out their offerings to the independent agency sector. Earlier this year, the company entered into a partnership with DocuSign to bring electronic signature capabilities to thousands of its agent clients.

Vertafore is also looking at improving client self-service both through browser and mobile-based solutions, Craig said.
