A new on-demand customer self-service portal will make it easier for independent insurance agencies and brokers to compete with direct writers, Applied Systems announced Tuesday. The company said its new Applied CSR24 2013 will enable producers “to meet changing consumer demands by delivering faster, more comprehensive customer service online.”

Applied Systems said its new software program increases the speed of certificate processing and policy renewal processes for producers in a time crunch. It also features an interface that enables producers to work in both desktop and mobile environments.

This kind of versatility is why independent insurance agencies like Millennium Alliance Group use software like Applied Systems’, Millennium CEO Jim Kerin said.

“Our customers have many insurance options, and it is essential for Millennium to continually deliver outstanding service through multiple channels and be the trusted adviser our customers can count on,” Kerin said. “Applied CSR24 2013 increases our customers service capabilities by enabling us to provide faster service online and work more efficiently as an agency.”

That kind of speed is going to be the name of the game for producers in coming years, said Dovetail Insurance Vice President Dennis Rabon—especially for producers working with small businesses.

“As an agent, working with small business owners is going to become more and more a virtual engagement,” Rabon said. “The ability to do business quickly and virtually will be valued as much, or more, than price and product. Time is their most valuable commodity.

Among CSR24 2013’s enhancements include more online self-service options, faster certificate and renewal processing for property coverage, more efficient document management, updated security features and enhanced protection of sensitive information.

The release is the latest in a string of product updates for Applied Systems. Just last week, the company announced the general release of Applied Epic 2013 R2—an agency and brokerage management system that allows agencies to provide faster insurance quotes to consumers and to share documents and premium certificates.
