The National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) announced Monday in a release that it is one of two vendors chosen to provide the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) official Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) agent/broker training.

Notably, NAHU is the only agent/broker association with this distinction.

Agents and brokers need to complete FFM registration and training before they can assist consumers with enrolling through Healthcare.gov.

“Licensed agents and brokers play a crucial role in educating consumers about the health insurance marketplaces during annual open enrollment and throughout the coverage year,” remarked NAHU CEO Janet Trautwein. “Allowing agents and brokers to use NAHU for their training will provide a significantly enhanced learning experience as well as add to their ability to improve consumers’ experience and understanding while selecting their healthcare coverage.”

“The NAHU FFM agent/broker training is comprehensive and meets all CMS training requirements. It will be available through NAHU’s Online Learning Institute. NAHU is honored for the opportunity to serve as a 2017 provider in the FFM training process.”

Those agents and brokers who want to participate in the FFM training will have to fulfill a two-part registration process first. Participants will have to register through the CMS agent/broker online portal for plan year 2017. Afterwards, agents and brokers will then be able to select their preferred provider of FFM training.

Based on CMS guidelines, the FFM training involves online instruction—consisting of webinar modules and a final exam. Training from NAHU will include continuing-education credits issued on a state-by-state basis.
