Health insurance signups through the state and federal Affordable Care Act exchanges are up, but the 365,000 Americans who have gained Obamacare coverage since October is still well short of the administration’s targeted goal 1.2mn enrollments in the first two months.

If anyone can save America's least sexy law, 17 state exchanges and one advocacy group hope it’s America's sexiest man—pop singer Adam Levine.

Levine, who was named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive last month, is joining other celebrities like Fran Drescher of “The Nanny” and Kal Penn of “Harold and Kumar” to kick off a social media campaign designed to add a little spice to the Obamacare enrollment process.

Peter Lee, executive director of Covered California and leader of the campaign (called “Tell a Friend—Get Covered”), said the group hopes to generate 100mn Internet contacts before open enrollment closes March 31. It will do so by using celebrity promotions and professionally produced videos to discuss the advantages of enrolling in Obamacare.

There will also be a companion website and an eight-hour event that will be streamed live in January, the campaign told Bloomberg.

“The idea is a drumbeat of dialogue, a drumbeat of discussion about coverage—not about glitches, not about the politics, not about the pundits,” Lee told the Associated Press.

We suspect, in Levine’s case, it will be more about pizzaz and the power of animal magnetism.
