Philadelphia-based insurer ACE Ltd., which is buying NJ based
Chubb Corp. for $28 billion, has named 16 executives from
Chubb and 18 from ACE to top management positions. Post-merger, the multinational insurer will be called
Chubb Group.
In areas where ACE is placing a Chubb executive in charge, an ACE manager will act as deputy, and vice versa. The hope is that both national product teams will integrate and learn to work together. The combined company will have a yearly expenditure of $3.8 billion, and ACE plans to cut it by $650 million. This has left both groups wondering which office will be hit the hardest.
Evan Greenberg, CEO of ACE Ltd., said that he is hoping to sell more insurance after the merger is complete and plans to hire more later on.
Harold L. Morrison Jr. (Chubb) will be the Senior Vice President (SVP) and President, Field Operations of the North American Insurance division of the new Chubb Group.
Gerald Butler (Chubb) will be Executive Vice President (EVP) and act as Deputy Field Officer. He will report directly to Mr. Morrison.
The company’s 48-branch network across North America will be divided into 8 regions, each headed by a Regional Executive Officer (REO) who will be an SVP (or EVP as noted) in the company. Each REO will have a Regional Chief Operating Officer (RCOO) as their deputy.
